California officials believe it’s okay that farm pesticides were discovered floating in air samples.

California continues to be the nation’s largest producer of fruits, vegetables, and nuts, from the expansive vineyards of the Bay Area to the Central Coast’s strawberry fields and the Central Valley’s orchards.

However, in an attempt to protect crops from weeds, fungi, insects, and other pests, California farmers spray about 180 million pounds of pesticides annually.

Several significant farming regions now have detectable levels of pesticides floating in the air, according to state inspectors.
